Everybody’s Going Through Something.
“Life is difficult.” Reading this first line of M. Scott Peck’s classic, The Road Less Traveled, left an indelible impression on my mind. It was nearly 7 years ago and I was going through a difficult time in both my business and personal life. Life is difficult. You think? I had a number of ideas on what the second line of the book should say, if you know what I mean.
But while I was being sorely tested by Life, it soon occurred to me that I wasn’t the only one. The truth is, Life is difficult, for everyone. No one gets out of its difficulties- whether challenges, obstacles, heartaches or loss- while they are alive. They are a fact of Life. Life, it would seem, was the first equal-opportunity employer. But once we understand that Life is not only difficult, and that it is supposed to be difficult, our approach to Life can change. It is actually our response to Life’s challenges that matter, not those things that have happened to us.
This is where Faith really works. Faith is the force we can use to overcome the challenges of Life. Faith also empowers us to become the people we were born to be. And like anything else in life, Faith can be learned, and grown, and mastered.
Living by Faith just got a little easier.
The Apostle Paul said that “The just shall live by Faith.” This means that whatever you and I are going through, we can get through it with Faith.
